A Record of Success for Our Neighborhoods and City
  • Led a “Clark-Fulton Together” community planning process, helping to guide the revitalization of the Clark-Fulton neighborhood with the input of residents.
  • Increased affordable housing in Stockyards and Clark-Fulton. Her efforts have led to the construction of 52 new  construction homes, 180 units of affordable housing, and a new Ward 14 Housing Pilot initiative funded to rehabilitate vacant homes.
  • Targeted illegal dumping: In partnership with Metro West Community Development Organization, cleanup efforts have removed over 1,300 tons of debris and 6-ton dumpsters are now made available for residents to freely discard excess garbage. New safety cameras act as deterrents and to identify illegal dumpers. Cleanup efforts have responded to hundreds of resident illegal dumping sightings. Almost 1.5 million pounds of garbage has been collected from the ward since 2018.
  • Improved resident services with a 48-hour turnaround time for resident inquiries, monthly community meetings with City of Cleveland cabinet members, and new monthly community meetings open to all Ward 14 residents. Her office has responded to thousands of resident calls ranging from requests to remove abandoned cars to providing home repair resources.
  • Supported residents during the pandemic: delivered meals to over 130 families per month, partnered with Digital C to give residents affordable access to the internet, and ensured there are dedicated, Spanish-language Covid-19 resources available to all residents of Cleveland.
  • Established S.E.E.D.S (Support, Empower, Engage, Develop, Sustain), a women’s professional, personal, and social support program.
  • Led public investments in Ward 14’s parks and public spaces, including the $1 million renovation of Meyers Pool and the $1.5 million Mercedes Cotner Park renovation and reconstruction project.
  • Engaged the community through new events to build relationships among residents, including Summer Movie Nights, annual neighborhood beautification projects through Painting a Better Picture, monthly Coffee with Council meetings, and stronger collaboration with our Community Block Clubs and the Metro West Community Development Organization.
